"I hate to leave you," he said softly, "but I'll be back in just a few minutes. Do you need anything from the kitchen? Water?"

Kersen offered him a smile, then left and went to the kitchen. He opened the refrigerator, which was mostly empty. A carton of orange juice, some chilled white wine, and bags of blood.

Kersen pulled one out, opened it, poured the contents into a glass, and drank. He would have to brush his teeth before getting back into bed with James.
